Jabots are a type of window treatment cut in an angle. The angled cut makes the jabot taper up toward the center of this window, so they are often hung in pairs that match in the center of the window. If you want to hang drapes behind your jabots to supply you with a more elegant look, you need to put in a double curtain pole above your window to adapt both the jabots and drapes.
Lift up on the ends of the existing curtain pole and then pull it away from the wall to bring it off the mounts. Turn the screws in the mounts counterclockwise with a screwdriver to remove the mounts.
Position the mounts to your double curtain pole above the region where you removed the old curtain pole. Insert screws through the holes in the mounts and turn them clockwise with the screwdriver to secure them.
Slide a plastic bag over one end of the inner curtain pole to prevent snagging the curtain. Push the end of the rod into the pocket to the curtain panel or panels.
Remove the plastic bag and then slip it over one end of the outer curtain pole. Push the end of the rod into the pocket to the first jabot, then slip it into the pocket to the second jabot. Remove the plastic bag.
Hold the ends of the inner curtain pole above the mounts closest to the window casement. Slide the ends of the pole above the tops of the mounts and rotate the pole downward to secure it. Adjust the curtain panels as required.
Secure the pole with the jabots into the outer mounts in the exact same manner, then adjust the jabots for the desired look.
